11. Bananas are berries, but strawberries are not
Botanically speaking, a berry is a fruit produced from a single flower with seeds encased in fleshy fruit.
By this definition, bananas are indeed berries, as they meet all the criteria.
On the other hand, strawberries are not considered berries because the seeds are on the outside of the fruit, not inside.
Despite this, strawberries are often classified as berries in popular culture and are considered a staple of many fruit baskets and desserts.
