17. The World’s Oldest Flower, 125 Million Years Old, Was Discovered in China
Believe it or not, the oldest flower in the world was discovered in China, and it dates back to the Jurassic Period.
The flower, named Archaefructus sinensis, is estimated to be about 125 million years old, making it one of the most ancient species on the planet.
It was discovered in the Yixian Formation in northeast China by a team of Chinese and American researchers in 2002.
